"Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."
- William Morris
Much like the philosophy of designer William Morris, our mission at Hayrake Furniture Company aims to realize the idealistic union between design and engineering through hand-crafted furniture that provides both function and purpose through the use of a carefully honed, minimalist aesthetic. Meticulous decision making and confidence in our craft allows each piece to find strength in unembellished elegance and honest use of materials.
The term Hayrake stems from the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 1800’s; a movement that railed against the industrialization of craft production and a decline in quality of workmanship that still finds relevance today. The result: an awareness of the importance in embracing a design philosophy that emphasizes authenticity while simultaneously recognizing the designer as craftsman.
“My greatest goal is to build pieces that recognize all three criteria of function, beauty, and meaning; a purpose that allows each design to be objectively beautiful while facilitating a mission that transcends its own physicality.”
AJ Quinter, founder
